Training – I’m the creator of Graphic basics, a beginners video training Podcast for today’s graphic apps. Photoshop is the first course but will be followed by Adobe Illustrator and InDesign. I’m a Creative Director currently and have been a Project Manager for over 6 years. I can deal with clients and team members effectively. Having started off in a Repro House/Printing firm for 3 years as a designer and impossition specialist, I have extensive knowledge of the print process as well as any technical trouble areas.

Trainer Graphic Basics (personal project)
Graphic Basics is an on-line beginner’s training video podcast for Adobe’s applications – starting with Photoshop. The site will add Illustrator and InDesign at a later date.
- Responsibilities Devising the course curriculum, writing the scripts, creating all the support documents and videos for the podcast as well as recording and editing the finished video.
- Skills needed Being sympathetic to the level of knowledge a beginner has and what they’re able to take in at a time. Video editing and compositing.
- Achievements Becoming familiar with on-line software solutions for blogging, RSS feeds and the process needed for iTunes podcasting.

Creative Director Netring Ltd
Netring offers the full design package for both print and web from Corporate Branding to Brochures to Catalogues to Exhibition stands. Netring specialise in e-commerse sites as well as web applications to bridge the gap between clients off-line and on-line systems. Netring is now the preferred supplier for the largest Wildlife Trust in the UK who also endorse us – the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales.
- Responsibilities Being the lead designer in large projects. At times, dealing with the many aspects of a project concurrently and ensuring a unified brand with all the media, be it print, web or multimedia.
- Skills needed Working on many aspects of a project as well as many projects, good time management is a must. Good communication with the client and within the company. Multi-disciplined – being at home editing video, creating Flash animations and print designs. Keeping up to date with new trends for designs and web standards.
- Achievements Creative Director. Streamlined the account process and management. Instrumental in the Wildlife Trust account.
Feb 2000 – Mar 2006
Project Manager Goldshore Ltd
Goldshore deals with ‘Customer Benefits’ and ‘Affinity Solutions’. This requires the design and production of bespoke shopping sites and literature to mirror the clients existing designs so the end user doesn’t know that it’s someone else’s site.
- Responsibilities Managing the new projects throughout the IT team – the design and creation of shopping sites or customer management systems as well as printed media.
- Skills needed An understanding of the whole process of e-commerse site creation. Good communication with the client and then within the IT team as well as with our account managers. Keeping up to date with new trends for designs and web standards.
- Achievements Team Leader role, Project Manager role, Temporary Operations Manager for Goldshore’s contact centre ‘CyberCall’.

Taiga Operator Haven Colourprint UK
Haven Colourprint is a Printers with an in-house design/repro department which deals with creating designs, outputting bureau jobs to the pre-press imposition system Taiga (pronounced ‘Tiger’)
- Responsibilities My main role was outputting imposed film using Taiga Press. This involved cleaning up a lot of the bureau work at the Mac stage so it would be of an acceptable standard for Taiga.
Photo-retoucher on images scanned at Haven specialising in colour correction for artist prints and image clean up for ‘adult calendars’ which involved removing imperfections and blemishes.
General design work when the requirement was to include photo-manipulations and/or 3D work. - Skills needed A good technical knowledge of the various elements of a job, ie – fonts, image file formats, spot colours and the way Quark deals with these.
A good eye for colour to not only see that it was wrong but to be able to adjust it correctly.
Photo-manipulating and efficiently creating clipping paths for images. - Achievements Trained on Taiga Press and it’s post production editing tools.
Trained on the use and maintenance of the high quality colour accurate proofing system.
Trained on the use and maintenance of the Image Setter.

Mac Artworker/Illustrator Playne Books Ltd
Playne Books is a book packager who design and produce various books and at the time specialising in various ‘How to…’ books dealing with the performance arts.
- Responsibilities Setting and illustrating of various books. The illustrations in the book were hand drawings and vector images for the step by step instruction.
- Skills needed Drawing skills, Vector illustration, page and book lay-up in Quark.
